LANOKA HARBOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROUD PAWS ARE SOUPER STARS!!! ⭐️💫 with 372 Cans of Soup!!
It was during a conversation with now-retired Mill Pond Principal Mrs. Sue Gallagher that the idea for a 1 Item food drive took root in the Summer of 2010. Thirteen years ago the Food Bank’s concern was keeping enough soup on hand to provide each family with at least 2 cans of soup a month. Doesn’t sound like much, does it? But when you factor in the 100+ families the Food Bank serves that translates to a minimum of 200+ cans of soup needed each month. No easy task when the Food Bank relies on donations to keep the shelves stocked.
Fast forward to 2023 and the newly formed Proud Paws of the Lanoka Harbor Elementary School. Under the leadership of one of the original Souper Bowl mentors, Mrs. Jacque Supsie and Mrs. Heather Meyler the idea for a Souper Bowl drive was launched as the Lanoka Harbor Elementary School Proud Paws first community project for the Lacey Food Bank! And their SOUPER DRIVE efforts were rewarded with SUPER results! An amazing 372 cans of soup were collected for the Lacey Food Bank!!! The Lacey Food Bank and the families we serve are very grateful to ALL the students, their parents, and the faculty of the Lanoka Harbor School for the enthusiastic support of their first-ever SOUPER DRIVE! #LittleCubsWithBigHearts #LHS
