Lacey Food Bank Volunteers come from all walks of life. On any given distribution day you will find young and senior volunteers and retirees – teachers, nurses, civil service employees, veterans, business executives, white collar, blue collar and stay-at-home (or work-from-home) moms and dads! Our volunteer force crosses all the divides and the esprit de corps is one of the first things you’ll notice. Yesterday we had a medical emergency with one of our own during distribution and thanks to the quick actions of Volunteer Arlene Thoms, a retired Registered Nurse trained in CPR and brand new, first day as a volunteer Laurel Leithauser Fitts what could have been…. wasn’t….. and we are all thankful for their quick response. Arlene is one of several volunteers trained in CPR and her immediate actions made all the difference in the world.
️ Thank You also to the Lacey Police and the Forked River EMS for their quick response! We are happy to report that the patient is in stable condition but will remain in the hospital for further testing and observation.
