This may be a little long but if the truth be known there wouldn’t be enough space on this page to list all the good things Caffrey’s has done for us and for so many others in this town. In 2000/2001 the Lacey Food Bank was on the verge of closing. Our shelves were nearly empty and so was our bank account. With not enough food or money to keep us going for much longer we thought for sure we would have to turn people away. It was right about then that 2 local business owners approached John Parker with the question “Where can we do the most good in Lacey?” Mr. Parker’s reply “The Lacey Food Bank”! And so began a long-standing relationship with Joe DePasquale and Dan Coleman. That first year Joe and Dan, the owners of Caffrey’s Tavern Steak House contributed $1,500…..more than half of our total donations for the year! Nearly 19 years later Caffrey’s is still with us, as our friend and as one of our longest Esteemed Sponsors. Most of us, along with their employees, have also had the opportunity of dropping a few dollars in the donation jar at Caffrey’s during their annual “March is Lacey Food Bank Month”. Even though they suffered the devastation of a massive fire last year, they rallied in the parking lot to hold a “Caffs-giving Food Drive”. We are excited to say that this year Caffrey’s Backyard will be supporting the Lacey Food Bank Kids Keeping the Promise of Christmas Project! From now through December 11th, Caffrey’s will be collecting new, unwrapped toys and gifts for the more than 220 children that are on the Lacey Food Bank Client List. With the dismal forecast of a long, cold, snowy winter, our Kids could also use boots (in all sizes from children to adults) and warm hats, gloves, scarves and winter headbands too! Thank You, Dan, Joe, Melissa Switzer and all the employees of Caffrey’s for being our very own Hometown Heroes!
