Despite Covid – Despite Social Distancing – Despite having to change our entire way of thinking, the people who make up the Lacey Food Bank Kids Volunteers will continue to KEEP THE PROMISE OF CHRISTMAS to the youngest of our client children. We again are having to forego the annual Christmas Gift Shop we set up for our caregivers to come in and select the just-right gift for their child.
Instead, now that we are pros at drive-by distributions, we will be calling caregivers with proper and current Lacey Food Bank identification and arranging for them to ‘drive by’ and pick up a Christmas gift bag, for each child, filled with warm necessities, age-appropriate game, toy or puzzle, snacks, surprises, and a Gift Card.
Have you heard of the 4 gift rule? It’s been part of our giving philosophy since the beginning of the LFBKids Volunteers… In the 4 Gift Rule, the first four gifts are the same something they wear, something they read, something they want, and something they need.
BUT… we like to add the number 5!! The fifth is always something special! We’ve had to get a little more creative with our gifting because of the current need for a driveby distribution but we’ve managed to maintain the Rule of 4 + 1 thanks to your support and generosity.
From now until 12/6 we will be collecting: (FOR BOYS & GIRLS, ALL NEW AND UNUSED) SOCKS, HATS, GLOVES, SCARVES, EARMUFFS, SLIPPER SOCKS, PUZZLES, FIDGETS, GAMES, SMALL LEGO SETS, CRAFT KITS, NEW BOOKS OR ACTIVITY BOOKS SUITABLE FOR AGES 3 – 15 AND WRAPPED CHRISTMAS THEME CANDIES & COOKIES.
In our Night Before Christmas package (Thank You Ashley S & your group for taking this on) each child will receive the traditional hot cocoa, individually wrapped cookies to leave for Santa and his Reindeer along with a small notepad to leave the “I’ve been good” note for Santa.
This year we would like to add a Christmas-themed UNBREAKABLE mug or cup to the Night Before bag. . Our 5th gift to each child will be a gift card to either Walmart, Kohls, or Target. In this way, we can be sure that their caregiver will be able to provide them with a special or most wanted gift.
BUT, we can only continue to do this with your help. As the Lacey Food Bank Kids Volunteers, we receive no funding from the Lacey Food Bank. Your donations are what help us to Keep the Promise of Christmas.
We are confident we can do this because of the goodness and generosity of our donors. So many gifts come in anonymously that it is hard to thank each one of you personally, especially with dropoffs still largely non-contact. Just know that we, and the children we serve, are so very grateful and blessed to have your support and encouragement.
Please make sure to mark your gift or monetary donations to the attention of the “Laura/LFBKidsXmas”
Check donations must have KidsXmas noted in the memo area.
The last day for donations is December 6th.
THANK YOU LACEY TOWNSHIP for your continuing support of the children.
We could use your help this Holiday Season. All donations for the LFBKids need to be in by 12/6. Please mark your donations (checks/gift cards, gifts) for the LFBKidsXmas. Thank You for your continued support of the youngest of our client family.
