Most of you know that the LFBKids receives no funding from the Lacey Food Bank. That means that everything we do for our Client Kids (Christmas Gifts, Back2School, Halloween, Easter, Stay Healthy February, etc) must come from donations specifically earmarked for the LFBKids or through fundraising. Sadly, due to the current COVID restrictions imposed on inside dining, our annual Psychic Night – the only fundraiser we have – had to be postponed. That leaves us starting our Christmas campaign with a deficit. We are also having to adjust how we handle this year’s gifting and more on that will be forthcoming in the days to come. Presently, with COVID restrictions and a need to maintain the health and safety of our volunteers and client parents alike, our plan right now is to provide each registered child up to age 17 with a gift card to one of these local retailers – Walmart, Kohls or Target – along with a prepacked gift of those basic winter necessities such as gloves, scarves, and socks. Anticipating that we may still be in a ‘social distancing’/stay at home situation we are also considering adding a small puzzle or small craft to their Christmas gift. Our tentative plan is to distribute this LFBKids Christmas gift package to our client caregivers at a distribution separate from the regular food distribution and no later than December 11th; to allow the parents an opportunity to find the ‘just right’ gift for their child. Please remember that any cash or check donation be clearly noted that it is for the LFBKids Christmas. Donations can be dropped off at the Lacey Food Bank Monday – Saturday from 10am-Noon. Please make sure to mark your donation for the LFBKids Christmas/attn Laura C.We are grateful to The Womens Club of the Forked River Tuna Club who have already designated the LFBKids as one of their Christmas projects. And this morning, Jeff Ascough of Shore Green Landscape and Design dropped by my house with this donation of $500.00 to kick off our drive to Keep the Promise of Christmas for the children of the Lacey Food Bank. Thank You Jeff!! Christmas 2020 may look differently at first glance this year but rest assured the LFBKids Volunteers, with your help, will do everything we can to make sure that every registered child has a gift to open on Christmas morning.
Thank You. ~ Laura
