LTHS Interact Club and Forked River Rotary

November 22, 2019 / laceyfoodbank / 2019 News

“The more you love, the more you’ll find, that life is good and friends are kind. For only what we give away, enriches us from day to day” ~~ Anon This morning the Lacey Food Bank welcomed the Rotary Club of Forked River and the Interact Club from LTHS to the annual Thanksgiving Turkey distribution held at Community Hall. With turkeys provided by Walmart and the trimmings from Lacey Shoprite, this joint venture with the Lacey Food Bank allows the students, their mentors, and our food bank families to experience first hand the 21st-century version of a shared harvest feast. For more than 30 years Thanksgiving Dinners have been a Rotary gift to Lacey Food Bank families. This year the LTHS Interact students raised more than $500 to help defray the cost of providing fresh-baked family favorite desserts of cookies, brownies and pumpkin bread too!!! The Lacey Food Bank is indebted to the Rotary and to the many community groups, businesses, individuals and schools who open their hearts and their pocketbooks to help us feed the Lacey families who are in need. In a time when more people than ever are reaching out for help, we are proud to be part of a community working together to put food on the tables of those who need it the most. On Saturday 11/23, the Rotary will be at the Lanoka Harbor Walmart sponsoring “A Day of Giving” to benefit the Lacey Food Bank as well. Please come out on Saturday and drop a can (or a bagful) of non-perishable food in their carts!
