For centuries man has kept an appointment with Christmas. And so the people who make up the Lacey Food Bank Kids honored that Promise of Christmas as Community Hall was transformed into Santa’s Workshop! Volunteers set out box after box, table after table of new toys, games and warm winter clothing. With something to please Mom & kids alike, the children on our client list will receive “the must-have” Christmas items of socks, undies, scarves, hats, mittens, and pajamas. Coats, boots, slippers, and warm flannels were hung with care, just waiting for Mom to pick “the one” for her child. A Christmas morning breakfast, in addition to an overwhelming donation of toy and sports equipment, was gifted to our Kids from a long time friend and benefactor, Brian Swanke of CWR Electronics. Several years ago, a chance encounter in Walmart early one morning introduced us to William Madden and despite a back injury he once again came to our rescue with the means to transport our donations from our storage location to the Hall – and then stayed to sort and display our treasures! Thank you to everyone who supported our Sock Challenge. We met our 1000 sock goal and almost tripled it thanks to a very generous donation from the Southern Regional School District!! Thank You to the LFBKids Volunteers who have given hours and days and weeks of your time to Keep the Promise we made years ago to the children of Lacey. ! And thank you Vesuvio Pizza for once again donating a tower of pizzas to feed our hard-working volunteers.
We could only wish to be able to thank each and every one of you who help us make Christmas wishes come true for the Lacey Food Bank Kids. For the most part, gifts come to us anonymously – collected in drives, dropped off in bins located throughout Lacey, through employee collections and angel trees and drop-offs at the food bank. Your monetary and gift card donations help us fill in the areas of the most need. For all of you please know that we and the children are grateful for what you so freely give in the real spirit of Christmas. THIS. All of THIS is only possible because of YOU!! Thank you all for Keeping the Promise of Christmas to the children who look to us for help. From the Lacey Food Bank Kids Volunteers to all of you a Very Merry and Blessed Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
