The Lacey Township Dept of Public Works! Doing the jobs that make our living here better than living anywhere else! When Tropical Storm Isaias hit this week, too many of us were left with outages, flooding or wind damage. The Lacey Food Bank was no exception. Except, a power outage for us could result in thousands of dollars of lost refrigerated and freezer foods and worse, hundreds of clients left with much smaller food bags at this month’s upcoming distribution. Fortunately for us, the Department of Public Works came to our rescue! From way, way back the DPW has always been at the ready to lend the Lacey Food Bank a hand. Who can forget the flatbed of yellow shopping bags making the journey down Rt 9 to Community Hall for our monthly distributions? Every month we knew we could count on the DPW Crew to help us get the food to the folks who needed it. Even after we were able to move the distribution to its current location, the Lacey Township Department of Public Works could be counted on to plow our lot, help fix a leaky roof and lend a hand with just about any building problem that arose. And this storm proved them our friends once again. Thanks to the DPW, John Vincentini was able to get us connected to a generator and in doing so, saved the bulk of this month’s cold foods distribution. Thanks DPW! You are our Hometown Heroes!!!
